Sometimes you have to put a little magic in your projects, think out of the box and into a square. The Huron Valley Optimists wanted to make their Cancer Project one that would keep on giving, be long reaching and easy. And so the Magic Hug Square came to be. Conceived to give comfort to children undergoing invasive treatments in the Huron Valley area, volunteers were recruited at an Optimist meeting to knit or crochet these squares. To each square a note is attached that reads:
At Adopt-A-Family, our mission is to strengthen families with children in their efforts to achieve stability and self-sufficiency by providing access to all-encompassing services.
Every school-aged child in America needs proper nourishment to learn and grow. As a leader in the movement to end childhood hunger, Blessings in a Backpack strives to ensure children do not go hungry on the weekends by empowering individuals and communities to take action.
